It's 2017...My Halloween Poem, 1986
I posted this a couple years back, but it's Halloween again.... so I present, without edits, my third place prize winning poem from Truedell Public School's 1986 poetry contest. This untitled poem was probably my first, and definitely not my worst, and I think I won some lego.
The scariest thing
I’ve ever seen
Was a skulls eyeballs
Popping out at me
The eyeballs rolled
right down the well
I looked back and
almost fell
I ran and ran and ran and ran…
I almost hit a dead
man.
But when I finally got
home I slammed the door
And ran.
But then I realized
It was just a dream.
of course that night was
Halloween
