Teaching

Writing is a practice: create and revise with purpose.

David’s teaching moves between the classroom, rehearsal room, and community workshop. The common thread is practical attention to how a piece works—and how each writer can make deliberate choices without sanding away what makes the work their own.

    Inside Opera

David facilitated a community program that brought opera-making to young artists in at-risk communities through the conception, writing, and performance of a new work.

Opera made with young artists, not simply presented to them.
