Screenplay News: Mother of All Shows in Variety

If there’s anything I’m grateful for these last two exhausting years, it’s been the chance to finally and meaningfully collaborate with one of the hardest working, talented, and most generous artists I’ve had the pleasure of knowing during my years in Toronto. That human being is writer, performer, director, producer Melissa D’Agostino.

Melissa and I have been talking about ideas for over a decade now. Though we’ve had a few almosts, I really believe in the magic of the right projects at the right time. That project is our co-written feature-length screenplay Mother of All Shows, recently featured in Variety Magazine with the announcement that it will start filming in early 2022 with Goldstrike Films (Melissa will star in and direct!)

Our influences for this story are firmly situated in Melissa’s and my shared love of 60s, 70s, & 80s variety shows and sitcoms (Carol Burnett Show, Hee Haw, Dean Martin Variety Show, The Muppet Show, etc.). This mirrors the last remaining ‘shared love’ between our two main characters Liza and Rosa. It’s funny and heartbreaking, and the process of writing this screenplay has been equal parts of each.

I’m proud of this script and our original songs (with incredible composer Rebecca Everett), and I can’t wait for this story to be out in the world. I feel a little lucky to be honest.
